I don't have much to say about this. It was okay, with some original ideas, but very flat execution. I wanted to love it, but had to settle for merely "liking" it -- and that's being kind and generous.As an avowed and avid fan of the author's Ministry of Peculiar Occurrences novels (Phoenix Rising and The Janus Affair) I'm really surprised and disappointed by how little I enjoyed this more straight-forward fantasy effort.I have book two, but I am not exactly looking forward to reading it. It seems and feels like a chore to do so. :(
